A little WIP Wednesday

This past weekend, I decided to cut more into the Kona Solids Woodland Bundle that I got recently. I found a tutorial for chevrons, but can't for the life of me remember where it came from, so I can't link to it. But it's pretty straight forward - sews strips on a stagger, line up either the 45 or 60 degree line on your ruler to one of the seams and cut. Do the same thing only with the stagger going the other direction this time and sew those two trips together and you've got yourself a chevron.

This is me playing with the technique. I have two friends who are expecting in March (one friend has twins coming) and I think this will end up being the foundation for one of the baby quilts.

    1. Thanks! It's always nice to get positive feedback on things that are persnickety to line up.

  2. Those chevrons are just so pretty. Worth the trouble lining up, I'd say!

  3. Definitely! I'm all about bold designs. I love paper piecing for lining things up, but this one just needs very careful rotary cutting.

  4. How much fun is that? Love it! I discovered Kona solids not that long ago, and what a difference quality fabric makes. I had no idea!

    1. I've always been a batiks/patterns person, so solids are new for me. Thankfully I was brought up being taken to good quality fabric stores from childhood.

  6. What a great idea for a baby quilt!! So awesome. I am usually scared of all solids, but you definitely make it work.

    1. Solids are new territory for me. So I'm taking the bold, graphic elements that I love about modern quilting to use them. The blocks in progress for what will likely be the next post are definitely not solids, so I'm back in more familiar territory with that one.
