To add sashing or not?

All 16 blocks of the disappearing four patch are done. For the most part I made them in the pairs from when I cut them. It never seemed like much to do two at a time. I like that and may continue that for future blocks where there are many to be made so it doesn't seem overwhelming.

Now my question becomes do I add sashing. It's very busy as is, and I kind of like it, but I'm not entirely sure. I'll also lay it out with sashing strips before making my decision, but I haven't done that yet and only have a picture of it laid out. Without the possible sashing and without and border it's 32"x32", these will be 8" finished blocks.

  1. I enjoyed your block tutorial a few days ago, and it's a treat to see how all of the blocks look together! I rather like the blocks without any sashing, but I have a weakness for making quilts with single repeated blocks and seeing how the individual blocks interact with each other. I'm sure that if you decide upon sashing, it will look great as well.

    1. I've gone without sashing. And often, I like going without. I've only recently started using solids as a counter point patterns. I think you'll really like my next project if you like how blocks fit together without sashing. It'll be a full 60" based entirely on the blocks.

  2. I like the blocks without sashing, too. The "chaos" fits well together - I think they would look a bit too chaotic when split up. Borders, though, would look good!

    1. I've gone without sashing - pictures to come soon. And there will be borders, but I need to decide what I want to do with them - pieced or solid stripes. For sure the first border will be a single white stripe.
